Maintaining good eating habits can do away constipation. If you happen to be choosing and consuming a lot of sugary food and processed food that highly cause constipation, don’t worry. Constipation is an entirely curable and manageable condition. Ashitaba can help relieve constipation and ease the bad feeling of rectal blockage and much discomfort in your stomach.
Lack of fiber in the diet and certain medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, stroke, Parkinson’s disease and chronic idiopathic intestinal pseudo-obstruction are some of the roots of constipation.
How You Normally Treat Constipation
Over-the-counter drugs and laxatives to remedy constipation may help, but excessive and regular intake of such which may lead to overuse may pose harm to the body. If you must use laxatives, magnesium citrate liquids are the best, as these restore your bodyβs magnesium status as well as promote clearing of the bowels.
A long-term solution is to train your body to take food that are high in fiber. If you’re not fond of eating vegetables, that’s a problem. Other alternatives are to take: flax seeds, castor oil, guavas, raisins, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, ground almonds and lemon juice. The next solution is to take organic supplements which can aid your digestion.
How Ashitaba Relieves Constipation Naturally
Ashitaba / tomorrow leaves are vegetables that are native to Japan since the ancient times. The plant’s leaves and the rich golden or yellow sap coming from inside the stems called chalcones contain dietary fiber that is twice that of the spinach, getting rid of the harmful substances in the
intestines and stimulating the intestinal peristalsis.
Ashitaba takes charge in cleaning the intestines and also protects the stomach from gastric acids and special mucus that are secreted in the interior of the stomach resulting to a healthy state. Adding ashitaba tea or ashitaba in capsule form to your diet will help your body stay normal.
As a digestive agent, ashitaba also contains pectin, an enzyme which acts on digesting food. Its content of carminative essential oil explains its use in easing intestinal colic and flatulence as well. If you know you have too much animal fat in your diet, clinical investigations have discerned that twoβ4-hydroxyderricin and xanthoangelolβhave the most aggressive action in reducing amounts of visceral fat and subcutaneous fat, thereby improving overall health and cardiovascular status, plus helping to manage weight and obesity by improving fat metabolism and thus helping you be free from constipation.
Per 100 grams of raw leaves, ashitaba contains 65.0 mg calcium, 5.3
grams fiber, 1.0 mg iron, 3,700 Β΅g beta-carotene, 2,100 Β΅g vitamin A,
0.1 mg vitamin B1, 0.24 mg vitamin B2 and 55 mg vitamin C. Fiber from ashitaba chalcones
prevents the colonization of the intestine by invading pathogenic
bacteria such as yeast, E-Coli and Clostridium. It also stimulates the
growth of prebiotics that produce short-chain fatty acids, vital
components for activating immunity.
Other Ways to be Free from Constipation
1. Add deep green and crunchy vegetables to wake up, the blandest of salads. Try different greens like kale, red cabbage and herbs.
2. Keep yourself hydrated. Drink lots of water.
3. Pick raw vegetables over cooked ones, as side items. Aim to have many different colors and textures in your salad mix.
4. Engage in regular physical activity. Not getting enough physical activity can lead to constipation.
5. Consider high fiber cooked vegetables: peas, lentils, black beans, collard or mustard greens and potatoes. If you want them to be tastier, choose hummus, ranch dressing, honey mustard, or any dip that you enjoy.
Having a good digestive system can really improve your metabolism so Ashitaba can really make wonders to the body.

Because it grows very fast, in the Japanese language it literally means "leaves of tomorrow". Now, mounting evidence suggests it may well prove to be an essential healing agent of tomorrow and indeed in the longer term, too.
To be honest, I haven't heard of Ashitaba before. I can't even recall if my Botany professor ever mentioned it in our class. But this is good to know. – Len reallady / lencilicious

My neighbor said Ashitaba is a miraculous plant because of its health benefits. I've heard a lot about it but haven't tried it yet.
Does your neighbor have an ashitaba plant? If yes then it's good to try taking ashitaba leaves, too.
Wow. I haven't tried this and first time to heard of it. So how does it work, papakuluan?
Yes, you can boil the leaves to take advantage of the many benefits but you can also it the leaves raw (though the taste is really bitter). If you cannot handle the taste, it's better to mix ashitaba with your regular vegetable dishes.

Oh I also suggest taking Psyllium Husk that's available in Healthy Options. It's very rich in fiber.
I used to take laxatives before to treat my constipation but it did have side effects. It seemed my digestive system won't normally anymore. It became dependent on the tablet.good thing there is ashtaba plant to help those who suffer from constipation so they wo depend on the tablets anymore.
Yup what's good is that this is herbal / organic and unlike those with chemicals that can sometimes do harm than good to our body system.
I always add fiber in my diet. I drink fiber supplements (Clium) every morning to prevent constipation and also drink lots of water

I think I need something like this because I always get constipated. This sounds really interesting. What I know in terms of constipation is fiber and drinking lots of water only which what I am starting to keep in my mind in order to avoid getting constipated.
Food consumed in the recent holiday season sure was an admirable exploratory gastronomic adventure of sort. We need to make sure though that our bodies are properly detoxified and keep away from unnecessary diseases caused by constipation. Ashitaba can be your gift to yourself. π
Constipation is one of the hassle issue in my life before. I had difficulties in defecating and fortunately it was relieved by taking a lot of water. I might try this one whenever I experience constipation again.
It's a good practice to drink a glass of water immediately upon waking up each morning.
I tried ashitaba already for a month now,I was very much surprised that my blood pressure turned into a normal value from 150/100 to 110/70 and my cholesterol is in too low and my sugar too.I really thankful to this miracle leaf.

I am a firm believer of natural remedies and this article just proves my point. I remember using squashed moringa leaves to treat surface wounds when I was a kid. I still do until now if I get scratched and moringa leaves are immediately available.
Moringa. Yup, I hear a lot of good things about it as well. Just like ashitaba, these tiny leaves could save millions of lives.

If you're near Sampaloc, you can contact me and I'll tell you the address.

these tips really helps lalo na for me i have sensitive stomach thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. Do note though that taking ashitaba for a few days or a limited period of time won't easily treat constipation if you have been suffering from it for a long while.
Constipation is indeed a normal issue for most. The tips you mentioned are really helpful. My family has a new outlook- treat it as naturally as possible as you can first. I'll spread the word π
Thanks, Sol. Eating food that are high in insoluble fiber including whole grains, fruits, and vegetables is most recommended. Try wheat bran, brown rice, or whole grain bread.
I'm always constipated, sometimes I often forget to drink enough water. I don't know where I can get ashitaba plant though.
Making sure you drink enough fluids such as water will help relieve constipation. Fluids make bowel movements softer and easier to pass. Ashitaba plant can be bought locally. Message me if you're really interested.
I don't really have any problem with constipation (except when i'm traveling, my bowel seems to close up whenever the hotel's bathroom's not satisfactory to my standard *LOL*) but my sister (and father) has severe constipation, it's really bad that she can't "go" without consuming certain teas. I'll recommend this as an even healthier alternative to her!
Hehe maybe you just need more water when you travel because normally we tend to be all over the place and forget to rehydrate ourselves when in a different place. Yeah, ashitaba tea may be good for her.
Aside from the benefits it aid with constipation – does ashitaba helps in weight loss? I mean, can it actually help you lose weight?
Hehe I feel that you are very interested about ashitaba in relation to weight loss. Yup, it can.
