Picture this:
A women has a cholesterol levels of 242 and is suffering from severe leg pain during exercise, she has blood clots and ruptured blood vessels, yellow patches (deposits of cholesterol) on her skin especially around the eyes.
And all these were reduced to the minimum (normal level) after she started taking ashitaba tea regularly for about six months.
That introduction was my aunt’s success story.
It was as if all her prayers were answered.
Now on her second year of taking ashitaba tea, her cholesterol level has dropped down significantly from 242 to 180. Thanks to tomorrow leaves and my mom’s recommendation, she has landed in the safe zone firmly.
Cholesterol Levels
Normal – Less than 200 mg/dL
Borderline – 200 to 239 mg/dL
High – 240 mg/dL and above
What You Have to Know About Ashitaba (Tomorrow Leaves)
Ashitaba in Japanese literally means “early growth” and this name also translates to “tomorrow leaves.” This is because its stem and leaves are able to reproduce so fast that the plant’s growth can be seen like magic. Every day you harvest a leaf; the next day it blossoms again! Its rapid growth somewhat exhibits a strong energetic life force, and this makes up for one of the unique attributes of ashitaba.
Consistency is Key
I’ve once read in HealthySELF Magazine that you can cram for the exam, but you probably won’t get an A. Similarly, in taking ashitaba, don’t expect to get INSTANT GREAT results. You have to take ashitaba either in tea or powder form CONSISTENTLY for a major, magical transformation. Don’t take it for granted as well. You should always and still watch what you eat.
In a strong effort to reach the desirable level of cholesterol in her body, my aunt constricted her diet and changed her lifestyle aside from taking tomorrow leaves. She did exercise wisely, stay hydrated and consume more fruits and vegetables daily.
Chalcones: Highly Potent Antioxidant
As an edible plant, ashitaba contains Vitamin A, B, B2, C, B12, iron, potassium and more. It consists of a class of flavonoid compounds called chalcones. Recent studies in Japan and the US show that chalcone is responsible for lowering cholesterol levels (oxidation of LDL cholesterol). It also helps to guard against heart problems, osteoporosis, diabetes and even Alzheimer’s disease.
Are you ready to be free from having high cholesterol?
If yes, start now!
How to Prepare Ashitaba Tea
It’s best if you can grow the ashitaba plant in your own garden or backyard, so that you can just get pieces of leaves every day. If not, then you can buy supplements or ashitaba in powder form or tea bags. You can buy from Amazon (below) or some other trusted sites.
If you have the plant itself, to prepare ashitaba tea as your daily drink, get four leaves, wash them with salt water, rinse with clean water, cut them in smaller pieces and boil for a few minutes. A good suggestion is to drink a cup of it once to twice a day.
Note: Allow four hours before drinking any other tea.
For best results, get medical advice from your doctor. Get plenty of sleep, bring your body weight back to normal, avoid alcohol, stop smoking (if you are), avoid eating food with saturated fats, exercise and eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, oats and good quality fats.
Very informative post, I like it..would like to see more updates on this..thanks for sharing
Organic Food Products
Thanks for your appreciation! 🙂
Really, one of Ashitaba's health properties is to regulate cholesterol level. That's something to cheer about. BTW, does 'cholesterol' implies to good and bad cholesterol? Just asking
Good thing you asked. It lowers bad cholesterol (those collected on and under artery walls and cause blood blockages) thereby decreases your chance of a heart attack or stroke by about 20 percent.
Thanks for that info. Yes you're right CONSISTENCY is really the KEY. Because we wanted to have that effect as possible we seem to forget the word PATIENCE and WAIT for a GOOD RESULT.
PATIENCE & CONSISTENCY in diet come in handy at all times. So better track your calories and nutrient intake. If you see that you are lacking some vitamins that can be supplied with ashitaba, you know you can send me a pm. 😀
Thanks for sharing this. Consistency is not only used for things like this but also to other things. Thanks for the article, it helped me a lot. 🙂
You're welcome, Rejj. You may not have high cholesterol levels as you are still young – and you don't have it in your family history. But you better take care of your health and maintain a good supply of nutritious and delicious food like ashitaba. 😛
I'm learning so much about Ashitaba from you and it can really help those who are hypertensive in dealing with cholesterol level.
Yup. I hope you can pass on the message to your friends as well. 😉
I think I should take this too as I have the tendency to be hypertensive at times.
great post about Ashitaba, Actually I'm thankful for having here because I learned so much things. keep up the good post.
Thanks! Feel free to read my other articles about ashitaba and post a question and I'll try to answer each one. 😀
Ashitaba is really a magical plant. Not only that, it's also easy to prepare. People just need patience and consistency in order to achieve best results.
Right! Spoken like a true grower and eater of the ashitaba plant. ;D I'm a vocal advocate for eating hearty food composed of real ingredients. You'll find a lot of that in ashitaba.
i agree with you dont expect to get instant results! is like success doesnt happen overnight. All we need is to be positive and try those things that we know is really helpful. Like ashitaba!
Yeah but then again there's the line in a song, "Miracles happen once in a while, when you believe." 🙂 So I say you should also believe in what you intake as for example you don't have faith in the product (i.e. wonders of ashitaba), then it might not work on you.
i push itong post na ito. nakakatuwa naman at least healthy na successful pa!
Haha funny ng comment mo and very real. Thanks, Sef. 😀
I like the tea but until now I don't have it yet. Need to check the Amazon for the tea and seeds. I am planning to include it in my garden next year.
Ohh hi Tess, I think you're lucky nga for residing in the US. There are many suppliers there of ashitaba seeds and the byproducts of ashitaba such as tea and supplements. 🙂 Yup, Amazon webstore is a good place to start.
This is very informative. I seriously don't like drinking tea. I know how beneficial it is to our body but I just don't like the taste. 🙁
Well, you can always resort to taking ashitaba capsules and gain the same wonderful results. 😀
This ashitaba plant offers many great benefits to us human and I'm very happy that your aunt's cholesterol has dropped down. 🙂
Thanks, Michael. 😀 I hope ashitaba can benefit not only my aunt but many people who may need it the most.
Your article is very informative. It makes me want to buy the e-book right now! =)
Haha thanks, Kim! 😀 The e-book is just cheap. I think you can also refund the money you paid if you're not that satisfied.
I'm getting really impressed with ashitaba plants. I've read a lot of benefits from it, and now this one. I think my hubby needs this, for his cholesterol level.
Hmmm he can try. There's nothing wrong to trying, I guess. Just make sure to monitor the side effect on him as some people had rashes when they take ashitaba leaves.
organic food are great supplement than taking up medicine which has form with chemicals and other subtance's
Organic food as supplements are great. As a nation, we are increasingly eating more processed foods. Our supermarkets are full of convenient packaged foods that appeal to our taste buds, but compromise our nutrition. Because most of these foods' natural nutrients are removed in the refining process, we need to get them elsewhere.
now-a-days there are a lot of herbal preparations but one has to be careful since many are not any under quality control. Are there ashitaba tea available locally?
Locally I think no. But some people import ashitaba tea from the US or Japan and sell them here.
i love peppermint tea.ashitaba as herbal/organic stuff is new to me.
The taste is bitter so you better be prepared for that.
